The Inner Adventure

Melanin & Midlife

A Curated Wellness Immersion for Black Women Ready to Reclaim Strength, Clarity, and Nervous System Resilience.

Designed for women navigating midlife, leadership, and high responsibility who are ready to recalibrate their bodies, hormones, strength, and sense of self.

May 7-10, 2026 | Serenbe, Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia

This retreat is intentionally designed as a small, curated experience so every woman in the room has space to be seen, heard, and supported.

Many women arrive not knowing anyone else, and leave with meaningful connections that extend far beyond the retreat.

Strong. Soft. Rooted. Renewed.

This is a space for Black women in midlife to pause, reset their nervous systems, and have honest conversations about health, hormones, and what comes next.

What Women Are Saying About Their Experience

Reflections from women who have trained, traveled, and adventured with me.

As a Black woman and wellness professional, I’ve witnessed how often we carry the weight of family, work, and expectation rarely pausing for ourselves.

We are the backbone of so much. Yet our health, stress, and hormonal needs are often overlooked.

This retreat is my response to that.

A space where strength means listening.

Where rest is respected.

Where our wellness is centered, not secondary.

Why I Curated This Retreat

  • A Space to Be Yourself

“I felt fully supported to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. I had the freedom to show up as myself, and that kind of comfort and ease is rare.”

“I felt both challenged and completely supported to challenge myself.”

    — Chantell, New Mexico

  • A Seamless Experience

“Shawn curated a fabulous adventure for our group in Moab and handled complicated logistics seamlessly for people with varying levels of outdoor experience. Her coaching style was warm, supportive, and inspiring.”

As someone who is usually responsible for planning adventures for others, it was incredibly restorative to simply show up and not worry about the details. I loved being able to challenge myself in the encouraging environment Shawn created.”

    Mardi Fuller , Boston MA.

  • Confidence Beyond Fear

Working with Shawn has been transformational. Overcoming fear and gaining physical confidence has impacted my everyday life.”

    — Laura, Mill Valley, Ca.

  • Redefining What Healthy Looks Like

Working with Shawn completely changed the way I think about health and fitness. She combines deep expertise in training and nutrition with a practical approach that makes healthy living feel achievable.

Shawn helped me redefine what being healthy actually looks like, not hours in the gym, but how you move through your life. I’m healthier, stronger, and more connected to what keeps me active because of her.”

    — Vanessa, Los Angelos , CA.

  • Suported To Push Further

My experience in Moab was exhaustive joy, a feeling of empowerment paired with a quiet calm.

I felt both challenged and completely supported to challenge myself. Each moment encouraged me to push a little further, go a little farther, and breathe more intentionally. I had a fabulous time and would do it again in a heartbeat.”

    — Belinda

Why This Retreat Matters

Black women are carrying more than ever… stress, caregiving, work demands, aging parents, hormonal shifts, and the unspoken weight of always being “the strong one.”

And it takes a toll.

  • On our bodies.

  • On our hormones.

  • On our sleep.

  • On our mood.

  • On our energy.

  • On our sense of identity

This retreat was created to center our needs, to offer a space where we can rest, learn, move, breathe, reflect, and be supported without pressure or performance.

You deserve a pause.

You deserve community.

You deserve care that understands you.

  • A midlife reset is not about starting over.

    It’s about recalibrating.

In midlife, our bodies shift. Hormones change. Stress accumulates. Roles evolve. What used to work, doesn’t always work the same way anymore.

    A reset means:

    • Listening to your body differently

    • Training smarter, not harder

    • Understanding hormonal shifts instead of fighting them

    • Regulating your nervous system instead of pushing through exhaustion

    • Creating space for clarity instead of constant output

    • Realigning your energy with the next chapter of your life

This retreat blends strength, nervous system support, hormone-aware education, reflection, and community to support that recalibration.

It’s not about becoming someone new.

It’s about returning to yourself stronger, clearer, and more intentional.

Who This is For

This retreat is for women Who:

  • Carry a lot

  • Lead at work or at home

  • Feel the hormonal shift but don’t want to lose strength

  • Want science-informed guidance , not trends

  • Value community, but prefer depth over noise.

  • Are ready to invest in themselves without apology

  • You might be wondering….

What if I’m not “in shape”?

This retreat is not about peak performance or keeping up with anyone else. Movement sessions are supportive, hormone-aware, and designed for midlife bodies. You’ll be encouraged to listen, modify, and move at your own pace.

    What if I’m coming alone?

Many women attend solo. In fact, coming alone often allows you to be more present and open. The container is intentionally small so real connection can happen naturally.

What if I’ve never done a retreat before?

You don’t need prior retreat experience. This weekend is thoughtfully structured and grounded, not overwhelming, not performative, and not a conference-style schedule. It’s spacious and guided.

What if I’m navigating perimenopause or menopause?

You are exactly who this was created for. Conversations around midlife health and hormonal shifts are part of the experience, not an afterthought.

What if I just feel tired… and unsure?

Then this may be the right time.

This retreat was created for women who are strong, capable, and carrying a lot, and who are ready to pause long enough to realign.

If you’re feeling the nudge, trust it.
